It’s another Saturday trip on the road for Welling United when they travel to Lewes for an Isthmian League Premier Division encounter.

Last time out, two weeks ago, the Wings claimed their second successive league win with an excellent two-one victory at Whitehawk. Bradley Sach put the Wings ahead in just the third minute of his debut.
Lewis Chambers was introduced for his first appearance on loan from Chatham Town in the second half and he added his name to the score-sheet in stoppage time.
Although Welling were unable to hold on for their first league clean sheet of the season, the three points were the most important thing.
They should have hosted Potters Bar Town last Saturday but that game was postponed due to events off the pitch prior to kick off.
While Welling were inactive, Lewes enjoyed an emphatic win, as far as the score-line is concerned, at Dulwich Hamlet. After going behind midway through the first half, they levelled nine minutes before the break through a Charlie Walker penalty. They then had to wait until nine minutes before the end when former Wing, Jack Burchell put them ahead. Walker added a third with two minutes left and Devonte West sealed the result with a goal in stoppage time.
Ninth placed Lewes are something of a Jekyll and Hyde club having gone three games undefeated after three straight losses. As an example of their hit and miss season, they won at home to championship chasing Brentwood Town in early November then, three days later, lost at home to lower half Carshalton Athletic.
When the two clubs met at Park View Road in August, the game appeared to be heading for a stalemate until Kaan Bennett scored for Lewes with just seven minutes remaining. It’s a very different Welling side now, and with both teams coming in off back to back wins, something has to give.
