Lennon appointed Dynamos Head Coach

Invicta Dynamos legend Karl Lennon has been appointed as the team’s new Head Coach and will now begin working on building a roster ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Locally born Karl Lennon first appeared for the Mos in the 2003/04 season after stepping up from the Invicta Mustangs and went on to spend eight consecutive years in a Dynamos jersey including two during which he donned the ‘C’ of captain. After 297 games, 42 goals, 94 assists and so 136 points, the battling forward hung up his skates at the end of 2010/11 with the club retiring his jersey in his honour.

During his time on the ice Lennon’s name became synonymous with an exceptional work ethic and an unrivalled passion for the team and it was this love for the club that saw him make an unexpected return in 2021/22 when the Mos were short on numbers. Now 38, Lennon made a comeback that saw him ice another 23 times, scoring once and claiming four assists for five points. Now he will move from the ice to the bench as he takes over the coaching reigns looking to stamp his mark on the team in 2022/23.

KARL LENNON STATEMENT

It’s my honour and privilege to be the new Head Coach of our great club. I came through the ranks here at Invicta playing here as a junior, a Mustang and of course as a Dynamo. To now be Coach is really a very proud moment personally and I’m very grateful to Kevin and Sarah for trusting me.

Off the back of a tough year it is very important for us to reset and re-centre the club, from top to bottom. Of course, my ambition is bring back the winning culture that I was part of all those years ago. This will be a process that we can’t just switch on overnight. We want to do this in a sustainable way that allows young players a path for development. There will of course be a huge amount of work to be done on and off the ice, but you have my word that we will leave no stone unturned when it comes to preparing for the 22/23 season.

We’ve put in place a summer programme with milestones to ensure that come September, our squad will be assembled and raring to go for the new season. Come on you Dynamos!
