Ledwith out of Kings’ Championship campaign
Ledwith out of Kings’ Championship campaign

A further team change is needed to the line up the Kent TouchTec Kings for their inaugural SGB Championship campaign with the news that last season’s club captain Rob Ledwith has employment issues and has regrettably conceded that he will be unable to commit to a full season at Championship level.

The Maidstone-based racer’s enthusiasm remains as high as ever though.

“I am sorry not to be able to complete a full programme of Championship events, but will always be available to the TouchTec Kings in an emergency.  At the same time, I will enjoy continuing as skipper of the Kent Iwade Garage Royals in the National League”.

So having previously also had to revise the initial plan to track the same septet who would have competed in the ultimately shelved 2020 campaign when foreign import Nico Covatti opted to remain in Italy for 2021, the TouchTec Kings’ management team now have two spots to fill.  There’s plenty of activity on that front as co-promoter Len Sliver confirms,

“Both Chris (Hunt, Team Manager) and myself have been in constant talks with Scott (Nicholls, the Kings’ captain) as to the best way forward and I expect, if the ideas we have been discussing are successful, to be able to name the full team within the next week or so.”

“Our early season plans remain in place but are carefully designed to enable us to make changes if the Covid situation demands it.”
