Kent have named a 12-man squad for their first home game of the season, with overseas signing Tom Latham set to make his debut for the club.

Glamorgan are the visitors to the Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, with the game starting this Sunday (1 May) and good crowds expected over the bank holiday weekend.

Latham, 24, arrived at Kent earlier this week, and looks set to be replacing Alex Blake in the only change expected from the XI that drew away at Leicestershire earlier this week. There is no place for Blake in the 12-man squad, with Hugh Bernard the other name included who did not play in this week’s fixture.

Speaking before the match, Latham said: “The sun’s been shining since I arrived and the ground looks amazing so I’m looking forward to getting into it on Sunday.

“I’m not too extravagant and go about my work quietly to try and bat long periods of time.

“My philosophy is to put the team first so I’m coming here to build my experience but I want to win games for Kent.

“I played for New Zealand in England last year and I’ve played here a few times before. Wherever you play, it’s about adapting as quick as possible to conditions so it will be no different in county cricket.”

Kent come into the match on the back of two draws from their Specsavers County Championship fixtures so far. Their first match of the season at Worcestershire was completely washed out without a ball bowled, before they played out another rain-affected draw against Leicester at the Fischer County Ground this week.

Glamorgan have one defeat and one draw from their two Championship fixtures this season. Their season began with a 10-wicket defeat at home to Leicestershire, before playing out a draw away at Derbyshire this week.

The visitors’ squad features seam bowler Harry Podmore, on loan from Middlesex, who will make his First Class debut if selected. Glamorgan are without South African batsman Colin Ingram, who has a knee injury, and have also left out experienced wicket-keeper Mark Wallace, with Chris Cooke set to deputise behind the stumps.
