This weekend the British Superbike Championship gets underway for the eagerly awaited 2026 season, and as part of that are a number of very competitive support series, and for the opening weekend that will feature Anthony Johnson.

Johnson, will be taking part in the British Sportbike Championship as a wild card entry at Oulton Park this weekend, and with such a late deal and announcement Johnson has not had much time to digest the news let along get out on the bike.
Luckily there was a pre-season test session last weekend, that was over two days and Anthony managed to get out on track and throw his leg over the Suzuki GSX-8R and get some laps in to get a feel for the bike and the series.
He will be racing for MPR Racing, having got the call at 4:30pm on Tuesday, so basically the end of the first day of the final pre-season testing. Hot foot it he did and arrived around 2 am to slept outside the circuit!
Having never ridden a Suzuki before he had a lot to learn and suspension adjustments meant that the lap times continued to tumble for him as he got to grips with the bike.
He is very positive and looking forward to a completely new challenge for the weekend, and with no pressure it will be interesting to see how he goes and whether he makes more appearances across the 2026 season.
