Lapslie becomes latest Gills signing

The revolution at Gillingham continues at pace with George Lapslie the latest player to sign for the club.

Lapslie becomes the fifth signing in the January transfer window under new owner Brad Galinson, joining The Gills from Mansfield Town for an undisclosed fee.

The 25 year old midfielder was unveiled to the Gillingham fans just before the kick off for the game against Hartlepool United in League Two at Priestfield.

Lapslie joins fellow Stag Oli Hawkins in making the move to Kent and is the fifth signing with Tim Dieng, Glenn Morris and Tom Nichols all having penned deals with the club.

Having started his career with Charlton Athletic, Lapslie had loan spells with Cheltenham Town and Mansfield Town before making his move permanent to the latter in January 2021.

Twelve goals in 62 appearances for the Stags shows his pedigree at this level and he will add much needed competition and quality to a Gillingham midfield that has struggled for much of the season.

Lapslie has been known to want to move back closer to family and the opportunity to come to The Gills comes at the right time for the dynamic midfielder.
