The Millers visit the Culver Road home of the Sussex County FA on Saturday to face a Lancing side embarking on their first season at Step 4.
Recipients of advancement under the FA “Non-League Pyramid” restructure, The Lancers were “promoted” from the Southern Combination Premier Division having won six of their eleven league matches in the curtailed 2020/21 season.
Lancing’s previous promotion was won ten years ago when they finished runners-up in the (then named) Sussex County League Division Two.
Plans for the new challenge were dealt a severe blow shortly before the season’s opener when Chairman Steve Taylor announced that he would be stepping down due to ill health. The Club are currently inviting applications for a successor.
The squad assembled by Joint Managers, Kane Louis and James Rhodes, have yet to hit the ground running, having suffered a four goal defeat in their season opener at Sittingbourne.
That this was followed by a similar scoreline on the 3g at Culver Road in last Saturday’s FA Cup defeat by Haywards Heath Town, suggests that someone is likely to get hit on the rebound…….
The Millers meanwhile, go searching for their first win of the campaign – although the opening day draw with Whitehawk could have so easily finished in their favour.
Hopes are that Rory Hill will be back to fitness following his knock against The Hawks, although Ade Adeyemo could be a doubt following the knee injury he sustained at Uxbridge in the FA Cup.
