Jayde Kruger had another fantastic weekend in the Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain at the weekend.Jayde Kruger moves to take the lead

The South African took Rochester based Jamun racing’s first victory of the season as well as securing two further podium places.

Speaking exclusively to Kent Sports News after his first ever victory in the UK, a delighted Jayde, said: “Over all yes it’s been great to get my first win in the UK and also to get the first win for Jamun this season, although the results were great it was definitely the toughest weekends racing that I have had in the UK.

“The times were just so close between the top six that it was a constant scrap throughout the weekends racing and was wheel to wheel action from start to finish.

“It’s a great circuit obviously we raced on the national circuit so it’s not quite the same as racing on the full circuit but a great experience another really famous circuit that I can now tick off the list.”

The weekend didn’t quite go according to plan with Jayde struggling and qualifying in fourth place, but after that the weekend certainly picked up.

He added: “To be honest we were struggling with balance throughout Friday where I ended up P7 so although it was only a fourth in qualifying I was still happy that we made improvements from Friday.

“I am happy with the podium as the times were so close and the racing was really frantic I was happy with getting a podium in the first round of the weekend as it’s always easier once you have banked a good result to improve on it.

“Race two was probably one of the toughest races of my life so far, I made a mistake from second out braking myself allowing Scott to get past me and from there it was a lot of hard work to get back past him. Once I got back to 2nd it was all about closing the gap on Brabham. Once I got close I knew if I was going to make a move I had to make it stick, I got a good run out of Beckets and stuck it up his inside into Brooklands and from there it was just about keeping it in front till the end of the race.

“Race three we didn’t have the pace in the opening laps to keep up and I also made a slightly ambitious move around the outside of Brooklands and got run wide and that allowed the front two to get away. I started closing towards the end but unfortunately the gap was too big for the amount of laps left. The podium in race 3 also meant that it’s the first race weekend this season that I have had podiums in all three races so I guess it’s safe to say it was a good weekend for me.”

We asked Jayde if there is any better feeling than standing on top of the podium after a race, and it would appear not.

“It’s always a great feeling to win but and thankfully I have now started the ball rolling and my aim is to keep on pushing for the remainder of the season to make sure I build on the success we had at Silverstone.”

The season is coming to an end with the final round at Brands Hatch and Kruger can’t wait to get going.

He said: “I can’t wait for the final round at Brands I think the GP circuit will suit me. It’s also the team’s home race so to be able to make it a success will be a really good way for myself and the team to head into the Christmas period on a high.”
