Konchesky makes Gillingham exit

Gillingham have confirmed that experienced defender Paul Konchesky has joined Ryman Premier League side Billericay Town.

The 35-year-old, twice capped by England, became the Gills’ seventh signing of last summer upon joining on July 21st.

He made his debut in the 3-1 opening-day victory over Southend United on August 6th and provided the assist for Jay Emmanuel-Thomas’s equaliser at Roots Hall.

A former Liverpool and West Ham left-back, Konchesky missed just one Sky Bet League One game prior to the turn of 2017, but only started two matches under new head coach Ady Pennock. In total, he made 29 appearances for the Gills.

Konchesky’s departure leaves The Gills short of options going into the final weeks of the season.
