Klaassen extends Kent contract

Kent Cricket have announced that Fred Klaassen has signed an extension to his Kent contract, which will now run until at least the end of the 2027 season.

The 2021 Vitality Blast winner’s Kent contract will once again have a white-ball focus, with Klaassen having taken 76 wickets in 69 T20 appearances to-date.

He took three wickets for just 14 runs in the Spitfires’ Vitality Blast Quarter Final against Lancashire this Summer, and has best T20 figures of 4-17 for Kent, taken against Sussex Sharks in the 2021 Vitality Blast Semi Final.

The 33-year-old Netherlands international will be heading to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup this February, and will take on Pakistan, the USA and hosts India in Group A of the competition.

On extending his Kent contract, Klaassen said: “I’ve now been a Kent player for seven years and I’m very proud to commit my future for a further two seasons.

“I’ve already made so many memories here, including winning the Blast in 2021, and I hope to add more in the near future.”

Kent’s Director of Cricket, Simon Cook, said: “Fred is a big part of our white-ball bowling attack and we’re delighted that he has extended his contract for at least another two years.

“He’s now one of our more experienced seamers and we hope that our younger players can learn a lot from him going forward.”
