The news is that Ben Morley will be able to take to the track in his no 5 race jacket as per normal despite being drafted into his home county side’s line-up.

Morley has been an ever-present since hooking up with the Central Park-based club last year, Morley is one of the handpicked young riders appearing also in the sport’s top division, the Elite League this season under the Fast Track scheme.

Morley has been ‘drafted’ into his home county side Lakeside (based in Thurrock) and has been a major success for the Hammers recording a number of sizeable points totals from the Fast Track reserve berth.

With the 5th May being the May Day Bank Holiday it’s a busy day again for Speedway across the country and Lakeside travel to Coventry prompting concerns that Ben would be riding for the Hammers that day and so miss out on the CTA Fire Kings’ important NL match versus championship contenders Mildenhall.

However, co-promoter Len Silver has been in discussions with the Elite League side and announced that a deal has been reached.

He said: “It has been agreed between Lakeside and Kent promotions that Ben Morley will ride at Kent on May 5 in the match versus Mildenhall. Lakeside are at Coventry on the same day and will utilise a guest to cover for Ben’s absence. We are grateful to Jon Cook and the management at Lakeside Hammers for their co-operation over Ben.

“I said previously we at Kent Kings  will be committed to doing everything possible to ensure the great opportunities given to our young riders to take part in the Fast Track scheme does not derail the club’s efforts to field our normal line up in home matches and this is evidence that we are keeping to this commitment.”

The match versus Mildenhall is a 3pm start time on Monday week (May 5th).  There is NO HOME MEETING at Central Park this Monday (April 28th) and the CTA Fire Kings have away matches vs. Coventry Storm in the League on May 2nd and at Stoke in the National Trophy the following evening before the Mildenhall fixture.
