Kids to get into American Football
Kids to get into American Football

The South East American Football Federation (SEYAFF) is launching this Autumn and will begin by running a 2 day Introduction to basic American Football Skills Mini Camp at New Line Learning Academy, Boughton Lane, Maidstone.flag 2

This camp will provide full tuition of basic American Football skills and rules and introduce new and experienced players to our development program.

Running from 0830 until 1630 on the 22nd and 23rd August we will be able to provide full instruction to participants and ensure that those who have never experience American Football before are able to learn, understand and develop key skills that will enable them to continue in the sport.

Those who have played before will find that they too are able to develop existing skills and abilities that will enable them to play at a higher level in the future. The camp is open to anyone aged 11-18 and is inclusive of boys and girls as teams mixed teams are able to play.

This camp is part of a pilot scheme intended to develop in the future to provide young people with greater opportunities to participate and develop American Football skills and this summer camp will be free of charge thanks to funding provided by New Line Learning Academy, The Maidstone Pumas American Football Organisation and Kent County Councillor Brian Clark.

About Flag Football

Flag Football is a fun, fast paced, non-contact version of American Football. Played by teams of up to 12 players with 5 on the field at any one time it provides an opportunity to learn basic skills in throwing, catching, running with the ball and defensive skills as well as instruction and tuition of the rules of the sport. It offers progression from complete novice to fully kitted (contact) football in a safe and systemic manner. The sport is broken down into 3 age groups 11-14, 14-16 and 16-18 and while adults too can play SEYAFF is aimed at developing in the youth categories.

Flag and American Football is great fun and offers young people the opportunity to develop key skills, fitness and be part of a team and is able to cater for a wide range of skills and abilities, we do not discriminate and can find a role suitable for anyone.

If you want to try something new or different then why not give it a go, you might find you like it.

About SEYAFF

SEYAFF has been formed to increase participation in and opportunities for young people to develop skills in American Football, we are not aligned to any existing American Football organisation though we intend to work with those organisations to provide a pathway that young people can follow to continue to develop and improve their skills.

We will work with schools and local organisations to increase the number of people participating and who have the chance to learn our sport as well as supporting organisations that wish to offer opportunities to teach skills or run youth programs. We will also work with the sports governing body, the British American Football Association and Coaching Association, the British American Football Coaches Association,  to increase the number of qualified coaches and build their knowledge and skills.

By developing a training program that is consistent and ensures continued progression we will ensure that skills and abilities are consistently developing and that playing standards improve and that the sport grows throughout the region.
