Kent Cricket have announced the signing of Bangladesh international seamer Khaled Ahmed for September’s Rothesay County Championship fixtures, subject to regulatory approval.
The right-arm seamer has arrived in Kent alongside his international teammate, Hasan Mahmud, for four County Championship fixtures in the run-in of Kent Men’s red-ball season.
Khaled made his first-class debut for his home Division, Sylhet, in 2015, and has gone on to take 190 wickets in 70 first-class appearances to date.
He made his Test debut for Bangladesh in 2018, and has 34 wickets in 18 Test caps for his country so far.
On joining Kent this September, Khaled said: “It’s an honour for me to play county cricket and join a Club with a big history such as Kent.
“This is an important part of our season and I am determined to help the team achieve promotion.
“When I first heard of the news, It was an easy decision to say yes. Both Hasan and my agent have told me lots of good things about their experience with Kent and how much of a family Club it is.
“I hope that I will make Kent’s Members and supporters, as well as fans back in Bangladesh, proud.”
Kent’s Director of Cricket, Simon Cook, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Khaled to Canterbury alongside Hasan this September.
“We wanted to add a bowler who could immediately strengthen our squad and give us greater flexibility through the final stages of the season.
“With three of our final four games at home, we can stick with a formula that worked well in the first half of the year, while also having the flexibility to rest and rotate our frontline bowlers without compromising performance levels.
“It’s great to see that so many Bangladeshi cricket fans have starting following Kent since Hasan’s first stint here earlier this Summer, and we hope that Khaled’s arrival too will help this continue.”
The St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury will be hosting a Women’s One Day International between England & Bangladesh on Tuesday 21st September 2027!
The second of a three-match series, this will be a day/night fixture, beginning at 12:30pm.
This will be the first time that Bangladesh Women will have played at the St Lawrence Ground in the venue’s storied 183-year history, and the return of a Bangladesh international side to Canterbury since Bangladesh’s Men’s side faced Australia in a Men’s ODI in June 2005.
Canterbury’s International Women’s matches are always extremely well attended, with last year’s International fixture between England Women & New Zealand Women at the St Lawrence Ground selling out in record time.
The Ticket Ballot for this fixture will open on Wednesday 2nd September, with successful applicants notified via e-mail on Thursday 1st October.
