Kent frustrated by Northants rain

Day three of the clash between promotion rivals Northamptonshire and Kent at Wantage Road was completely washed out by continuous, heavy rain.

Umpires Paul Pollard and Hassan Adnan carried out an inspection just after lunch but, with rain still falling, decided to call off proceedings for the day.

Northamptonshire currently trail Kent’s first innings 345 by 271 runs with 10 wickets remaining. Ricardo Vasconcelos is unbeaten on 43, while skipper Luke Procter is 28 not out.

Kent began the match in second place in Division Two with Northamptonshire just four points behind in third. With a likely draw in prospect, both sides will be looking to earn as many bonus points as possible during the final day tomorrow. Northamptonshire currently have three points, while Kent have two.
