Jodie Cowie and Amy Campbell won a bronze medal in their first swim with the GB synchronised swimming squad at the Spanish Open in Torrevieja last weekend.Synchro2

Jodie and Amy who are both fifteen and from Ashford and Gillingham respectively, were selected to the squad in January this year.

Jodie said of her weekend: “After the prelims we were both very pleased to say that we had officially competed for the GB synchro team! All the team were pleased with the finals swim because it was better than the one in the morning.”Synchro

Meanwhile, Amy thoroughly enjoyed the experience: “This means the team now has a good idea of what we need to do for World Championships and the bronze and two silver medals were a great result for the team as a whole, and as a first competition for the other new GB athletes and myself.”

Spain took the gold medal, Mexico the Silver and GB Bronze.Synchro3

For the last few months both girls have been juggling full time training along with sitting their GCSE exams but now exams are
finished they can concentrate fully on their swimming.

The World Championships in Barcelona in July is the next big event to look forward to for the Kent duo.
