Kent clubs learn FA Cup fate
Kent clubs learn FA Cup fate
The draw for the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup with Budweiser was made at Wembley earlier today.FA Cup2

Seven of Kent’s Ryman League sides who have won through to this stage were joined in the draw by the counties four Skrill Conference South teams in the velvet bag.

And the draw has thrown up some intriguing ties, with two Kent derbies but only two other home ties for the remaining seven clubs…

Pick of the ties has to be at Stonebridge Road where Ebbsfleet United will welcome Folkestone Invicta, with the second Kent derby coming at Sporting Club Thamesmead, where Keith McMahon’s Ryman Premier strugglers have a home tie against managerless Sittingbourne. Meanwhile in arguably the tie of the round, there’s an “English Channel Derby” as Chris Kinnear and his Dover Athletic side have drawn the trip that in some ways no one wanted and in others the tie that everyone wanted – away to Guernsey!

Of the other six sides, only two – Bromley and Margate have home ties. Bromley welcome Ryman Premier League side Bognor Regis Town to Hayes Lane, whilst Dulwich Hamlet will be the visitors to Hartsdown Park as the sides currently fifth and sixth in the Ryman Premier meet – incidentally the two face each other in a League game (this time at Dulwich) just four days earlier!

Of the remaining four, Kevin Watson will take his Chatham Town side to Southern Counties East Football League (aka the Kent League) side Whyteleafe, whilst Jay Saunders’ Maidstone United also face a trip to a lower division side as they travel to Ryman South side Merstham.

Ray Turner’s Faversham Town’s reward for winning at Cray Wanderers at the weekend is another trip – this time to the winners of the replay between Combined Counties League side South Park or Ryman South Horsham, and there’ll be an all Skrill South tie for Tommy Warrilow’s Tonbridge Angels when they travel to face league rivals Hayes and Yeading United.
