K Sports 1-1 Canterbury City

K Sports and Canterbury City played out an entertaining 1-1 draw in the SCEFL Prem at Cobdown on Monday night.

Jacob Page netted for City who saw Danny Lawrence have a penalty saved before Lewis Foreman’s spectacular equaliser for K Sports midway through the second period.

Canterbury were ahead inside three minutes with Page getting on the end of Rob Lawrence’s cross to tap home from close range to stun the hosts.

The Paperboys responded well to the setback and Victor Aiyelabola nearly equalised when he sprinted in on goal only for Stefan Lawrence to deny the winger.

Danny Lawrence spurned a great chance to double City’s lead on the half hour when, after Tom Cousins was fouled by Kwasi Amoah, his penalty was saved well by K Sports’ Charlie Walker.

Jack Bray thought he had levelled for the home team early in the second period but his header was superbly tipped onto the bar by Canterbury stopper Lawrence before bouncing on the line and out.

Harris Rodgers then came agonisingly close to making it 2-0 when he got on the end of a slick Canterbury move but his shot hit the post and rolled across Walker’s goalline.

The missed proved critical seconds later when Foreman hit an absolutely sensational strike into the top corner from 25 yards to level proceedings.

On 80 minutes K Sports did everything but take the lead, Mackenzie Gardiner rattled the woodwork with a header the rebound fell to Riyad Ghali, his effort was cleared off the line by Danny Lawrence whose namesake Stefan then brilliantly saved from Gardiner as the hosts pushed for a late winner.

Canterbury had the final chance of the game with Page blazing over from the edge of the box as the points were shared with both sides overtaking Hollands and Blair in the table, K Sports to 11th while Canterbury go 12th.
