Jewiss to begin F4 Campaign

The long winter-break has drawn to its conclusion and Kiern Jewiss is ready and prepared for the opening round of the 2018 British F4 season that commences this weekend with the fifteen-year-old Kent-based youngster’s home race at Brands Hatch.

After making the switch from Ginetta Juniors to British F4 for the 2018 campaign, Jewiss has completed a successful winter of testing in preparation for his debut in the single-seater series. Kiern starred at the opening test of the season at Brands Hatch in February as the FM Conway-sponsored talent finished the day at the top of the timesheets and then continued to star at Rockingham as he ended the second official test in third place on his first-ever trip to the Northamptonshire track in a single-seater.

Round one of the season sees Kiern and his Double R Racing team take to the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit, a 1.198-mile clockwise circuit in Kent. A natural amphitheatre, offering unrivalled views of the action from various vantage points, Brands Hatch Indy is a track where the smallest of margins can make the biggest difference and where a good performance in qualifying is crucial for a successful race.

Looking ahead to this weekend, the 2017 Ginetta Junior Rookie Champion is feeling confident heading into the first round of the season but is fully aware of the challenge that lies ahead.

“The winter has been really productive and the team and I feel that we are in a strong position heading to Brands Hatch this week. It’s a long season ahead so I know the best thing to do is to take my time and learn in every session. Hopefully, the pace will be there to be battling for wins but with three races this weekend, the goal is to pick up points in every race and to avoid any unnecessary contact. Overall, I’m really excited to get the season started and can’t wait to get back racing!”

Barry Mears, Head of the MBP Academy, has been impressed with Kiern’s progress through the winter and hope he can replicate his form at Brands again this week.

“We’ve all been extremely pleased with Kiern’s development through the winter testing and how quickly he’s got up to speed with his new machinery. The opening round of the season is always a tricky one but Kiern knows what he has to do to have a successful weekend and we’re all fully behind him!”
