Rochester based Jamun Racing have confirmed that they will be back competing in the Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain for 2014.Jamun Racing

This time out they will be running a two car package and in doing so announced that Juan Rosso will be returning to the squad.

Rosso had a fantastic finish to the 2013 campaign when he won the final three rounds of the season at Brands Hatch, and therefore finished third in the drivers’ championship.

Dan Cammish was a dominant force last season winning 27 straight races but with him having now departed for pastures new it is as wide open as it has ever been.

Jamun will be hoping that they can secure their first Formula Ford title of the new Ford Ecoboost era and return to the top step of the podium on a regular basis.

Rosso who is currently in training in Uruguay ahead of a planned return to the UK next month to begin testing said: “I am trying to get all the experience possible in my short career; I have only two years racing and this will be my third.”Juan Rosso

“I had a really good year with Jamun in 2013 and this season I want to try to make something stronger, to win more than three races and, if it’s possible, to fight for the championship. I am really happy to come back with Jamun; they showed me last year they have a lot of experience and made me feel like part of their family. It was an excellent relationship, and that’s why I want to repay them with more victories and maybe the championship.”

The team have yet to confirm who their second driver will be for the 2014 season but team boss James Mundy is delighted to have Juan back behind the wheel.

He said: “We are pleased to have him back – we enjoyed having him in the team last year. He’s a great lad and he had a good end to last season, so it seems like a good plan to come back and have a crack at the championship.

“We are planning on running two cars, but could run three, and will be testing some possible team-mates for Juan next week.”

The team claimed Formula Ford championship honours every season between 2005 and 2011, when Scott Malvern secured the final Duratec Formula Ford crown.

The Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain will feature 30 races – three 20-minute sprints at each of the season’s 10 BTCC meetings, with live TV coverage on ITV4 in addition to a post-screened highlights show. In addition to this unrivalled racing track time, Formula Ford offers two exclusive timed test sessions before each meeting as well as a 20-minute qualifying session.

The £30,000 cash prize fund is not the only innovation in the pipeline for 2014. This season will also see the introduction of a reverse grid for the second race of each weekend, bringing Formula Ford into line with the sporting regulations of many international single-seater series.

Importantly, technical regulations are to remain largely unchanged. The first rounds are set for Brands Hatch at the end of March.
