Fans of the Invicta Dynamos were treated to a spectacular last gasp win against Solent & Gosport on Saturday night.Arran Strawson3

With the clock showing little over two seconds left in the game and the scores tied at six apiece, up stepped Arran Strawson to bury the puck into the back of the net to gift The Dynamos the two points.

It was a fitting finish to a tight and nervy game at the Silver Blades Ice Bowl in Gillingham with fans having flocked to the game with kids charged just a pound for the night.

At no point throughout the night had it been comfortable for the Dynamos as Solent made it difficult for Kevin Parrish’s side every step of the way.

Back from injury, Dan Fudger was to give the Dynamos the lead in the fifth minute, but the two sides went in level at 1-1 at the end of the first period as Solent scored with just one second left on the clock.

The Dynamos were to score four times in the second period at took a 5-3 lead into the last twenty minutes as import Juraj Huska scored twice, whilst Callum Fowler and Shaun Wild found the net.

However, the last period proved to be less than comfortable viewing for the home fans despite Fowler putting the side 6-3 in front.

Three unanswered goals from Solent saw the the visitors pull level at 6-6 with just 41 seconds left in the game, but despite their heroics and looking like they would take a point home, they couldn’t count on what was to happen next.

With the clock ticking down, the Dynamos laid a siege on the Solent goal and Huska’ shot was turned into the path of Strawson who took little time to think what he was to do and buried the puck beyond the netminder.

Much relief and delight descended upon the Gillingham venue and the Dynamos will now go to league leaders Chelmsford Chieftains on Sunday night sitting second in the league and having won their last five games and unbeaten in seven.

The cup encounter will surely be a big test for the Dynamos, but on this evidence, they will go to Essex full of confidence.
