A remarkable game saw the Invicta Dynamos come back from 4-2 down to beat Bracknell Hornets 7-5 in the league on Sunday evening.Invicta Dynamos v Bracknell Hornets

Kevin Parrish’s side were far from being in top form as they played their only game of the weekend, but showed all the necessary resolve to pick up two valuable points in the NIHL South.

The game started with the Dynamos icing with a full roster, whilst the visitors took to the ice minus five of their squad.

Despite having fresh legs and after a rare Saturday night off, it was the Dynamos that looked like they were suffering from a hangover as Bracknell took the game to them from the off.

It came as no real surprise then that Bracknell took the lead just short of the third minute with Daniel Hughes rounding off a decent move involving Luke Reynolds and Joshua Smith.

The home side were kicked into gear after going one down and skipper Anthony Leone equalised in the seventh minute after great work from Juraj Huska.

Somewhat against the run of play, the Dynamos edges in front just into the ninth minute when Callum Fowler fired in from a tight angle after Greg Chambers made space for the forward.

The lead was short lived though as import Peter Jasik tucked the puck home in the 13th minute to the dismay of the home support.

Sent out for the second penalty with more purpose and a sense of aggression, the Dynamos found themselves soon picking up penalties and with Charlie Phillips off the ice serving two minutes for cross checking, Jasik scored his second in the 23rd minute to give the visitors the lead.

More penalties for the Dynamos followed with Fowler and Leone serving time off the ice and the numerical advantage paid dividends for Bracknell as they scored the powerplay goal in the 32nd minute with Carl Thompson netting.

As the second period wore on, the game got more aggresive and both sides found that the officials were quick to deal with incidents.

However, the Dynamos found they were to claw their way back into the game in the 37th minute when Leone pulled it back to 4-3 with Huska and Billy Phillips having a hand in the goal.

Fears that the Dynamos were to go into the third period trailing were put to bed in the 39th minute as Huska slammed the puck home past former Mos netminder David Wride to make it 4-4 going into the final twenty minutes.

With a sense of belief behind them, the Dynamos stepped up another gear in the third period and were duly rewarded in the 44th minute as Huska pulled the side in front.

As the visitors began to visibly tire, and after a brief delay for blood on the ice, Harrison Lillis sent Adam McNicoll free down the ice in the 55th minute and the Dynamos man made no mistake in firing past Wride to make it 6-4.

Just as Dynamos fans began to settle further into their seats, they were brought back to the edge in the 58th minute as Thomas Relf pulled one back for Bracknell to make it 6-5.

A sense around the rink in Gillingham that the game may be going away from them were put to bed by the Dynamos as the visitors went looking for a late equaliser.

With Wride pulled from the ice and only 36 seconds left on the clock, Steve Osman had the simplest of tasks to fire down the ice into an empty net much to the delight of the home support.

Less than a minute later and the buzzer went on a game that the Dynamos had won 7-5 keeping them sixth in the NIHL South, four points behind early leaders Streatham Redskins.

Kevin Parrish’s side now face the return fixture against Bracknell in the league away on Saturday night before returning to Gillingham on Sunday evening to take on London Raiders in the NIHL Southern Cup with face off at 5:15pm.
