The Invicta Dynamos comfortably booked their place in the play-off semi-finals with a 10-3 victory over Cardiff NIHL Devils on Sunday night.Anthony Leone7

Kevin Parrish’s side went into the second leg of the Quarter Final against the Welsh outfit with a 6-2 aggregate lead having won in Cardiff the night before and were never really in any trouble as they went on to progress 16-5.

The night started with the Dynamos taking to the ice with an almost full strength roster with only injured duo Ryan Giles and Shaun Yardley missing.

With the four goal margin behind them, it took just two minutes to make that five and open the night’s scoring when Danny Hammond fired home from the side boards to the delight of the home support.

The fans were made to wait until the twelfth minute for the next goal to come as skipper Anthony Leone opened his scoring for the night after great build up play from Hammond.

Going into the second period with a 2-0 lead, the Dynamos were to add three more unanswered goals as Juraj Huska bagged a brace and Callum Fowler got himself on the scoresheet.

Louis Lockwood was to pull one back for the visitors in the 37th minute, but the Dynamos were to add one more before the buzzer with Andy Smith marking his record for the most appearances in an Invicta shot with a shorthanded goal.

Two goals in the space of the 43rd minute for Leone capped a fine hat-trick for the Dynamos captain and took the score up to 8-1 on the night and when Smith scored his second in the 53rd minute, Parrish had already withdrawn netminder Chris Douglas to give him a rest.

The Dynmaos finally made it to double figures in the 55th minute when they made the most of a powerplay with Arran Strawson bagging a rare goal.

Cardiff were to play until the end though and clawed two goals back in the dying minutes with Stephen Deacon and Josh Haslam firing past Davey Jackson to see the score to 10-3 at the end.

The game was never in doubt for the Dynamos who had all but booked their passage to the next round in Cardiff and now they must face Wightlink Raiders in the semi-finals.

The Dynamos will head to the Isle of Wight on Saturday evening before returning to Gillingham for the 2nd leg on Sunday 13th April with face off at 5:15pm.
