Invicta Dynamos fell to a 8-0 defeat to the Raiders after falling behind early in the first period at Planet Ice Gillingham on Sunday night.

The Dynamos had a full roster including new signing Lewis English making his home debut. The Raiders missed: Brandon and Mason Webster, Tommy Huggett, JJ Pitchley, Callum Burnett, Daniel Hitchings and Liam Chong.

The first period opened with a goal from the Raiders player Blahoslav Novak, 37 seconds into the game.

A tough start to the period but the Dynamos tried to chase down the fast paced Raiders however were beaten again with a goal from Brandon Ayliffe at 9:52.

Adam Long faced shot after shot as the Raiders pinned the Dynamos in their end.

Michael Gray was called into action as Louis Colvin fired a wrist shot at the netminder. Gray stumbled as he attempted to grab the puck but managed to cover it with help from a Raiders defenceman.

Anthony Leone battled along the boards with Sean Barry but the two slipped and fell. With a shove from Brandon Miles, Aaron Connolly nearly landed on the pair already on the ice. The officials intervened before anything came of the encounter.

Halfway through the first period and the Dynamos trailed 2-0. Leone came steaming up centre ice sending Novak flying with a huge hit.

Raiders increased their lead once more with a goal from Jake Sylvester which hit the top right corner, timed at 17:24.

Matt Foord tried the Raiders netminder with a wrist shot but Gray padded it away.

Another goal for the Raiders as Novak flicked the puck over Long’s pads giving them a 4-0 lead at 19:06.

End of the first period saw the Dynamos trail 4-0.

The second period began with the Dynamos in control of the play as they used their physicality to their advantage.

However, Juraj Huska wrapped the puck around the back of the net and past Long making the score 5-0 two minutes into the period (21:48).

Adam Long was replaced by Conor Morris in net for the Dynamos straight after the Raiders fifth goal.

Jake Stedman received a two minute slashing penalty after slashing Gray’s pads after the whistle.

5 on 4 disadvantage quickly became 5 on 3 as Andy Munroe was sent to join Stedman in the penalty box for a two minute high sticking penalty.

Morris performed miracle saves as continuous shots came from the Raiders during the penalty kill.

Huska fired a slapshot but it hit the post just next to Morris’ head.

The Dynamos were back to 5 on 4 as Arran Strawson sent Matt Turner to the ice with a hard hit in front of Morris.

Dynamos managed to kill the penalties without allowing the Raiders to increase their lead.

Ryan Morgan with a slapshot on Gray but no goal.

Halfway through and the Dynamos had bullied the Raiders throughout the period so far with hits which continued with Harrison Lillis slamming Filip Sedivy into the boards.

Lillis and Ryan Giles threw Ollie Baldock over the Invicta net as he tried to smack the puck in with his skates and stick. Baldock not happy and Lillis willing to fight but no calls were made.

Raiders on a powerplay as Morgan was sent to the penalty box for a two minute hooking penalty.

Leone and Sylvester had some words and a shove before the faceoff. Sylvester grabbed the puck from the boards, but Leone planted a huge hit on the Raiders forward sending him to the ice.

Huska looked dangerous as he sped up the wing, but Colvin skated in and poked the puck away.

Five minutes remained of the second period and the Dynamos continued using force to get control of the Raiders. Hits came predominately from Lillis and Leone.

Gray got lucky as the buzzer sounded just as a shot from Owen Dell crossed the goal line.

Second period ended with the Raiders leading 5-0.

Third period started exactly like the previous two with the Raiders scoring another goal 41 seconds in. The goal coming from Huska which made the score 6-0 (40:41).

Stedman sped into the Raiders zone but with the official in the way he took a chance shot on Gray, but it was saved.

The puck possession went back and forth throughout the first 10 minutes of the period.

Dynamos celebrated as Joe Allen shot from close range, but the goal was wiped. The players not happy with the call as Allen smacked his stick on the ice in anger.

Huska with another goal past Morris, giving the Raiders an even bigger lead of 7-0 at 50:54.

The Raiders import forward tried his luck again with a hard slapshot, but Morris made the save look easy.

Lillis and Baldock collided again and Lillis offered to drop the gloves, but the Raiders player quickly skated away. The pair got two minutes each for roughing.

An impressive goal set up by Sedivy and fired into the back of the net by Turner with under four minutes remaining secured the visitors their lead at 8-0 (56:50).

The Invicta Dynamos used their physicality to try and gain an advantage, but the Raiders managed to find the back of the net. Raiders took home the 8-0 win.
