Holcombe’s Jennie Hoyte and Claire Hales both won silver medals with England and Alliance respectively at the recent Women’s Over-50s European Championships and Spirit of Masters tournament.

England won all four of their pool games, beating Belgium 5-1, Spain B 7-0, France 11-0 and Scotland 3-0.

Jennie scored once against both Spain and France and netted a brace against Scotland as she picked up the player of the match award.

England then beat Ireland 3-0 in the last-four before losing 2-1 to the Netherlands in the final.

Jennie’s four goals saw her finish as joint-fifth top-scorer in Valencia.

Claire started all four pool games for Alliance where they were unfortunately beaten by the Netherlands, Spain, Ireland and Germany.

In the Spirit of Masters competition, Alliance were beaten 2-1 in the first of two final matches against Spain B, before a 2-2 draw in the second fixture, which saw Claire score.
