Hythe Town v Sittingbourne preview

Sittingbourne play the most in-form team in the league, with the most in-form goalscorer, in a rearranged match on Wednesday evening.

They’re away to a Hythe Town side who have stormed up the Bostik South League into strong contention for a play-off place with an unbeaten run of 10 games.

And during those 10 games, star striker, ex-England youth international Zak Ansah, has scored 14 goals.

He’s scored in 9 out of those 10 games and got both their goals in Saturday’s 2-1 away win over play-off rivals Greenwich Borough, the winner coming with the last kick of the game.

Sittingbourne, meanwhile, were beating Molesey 1-0 thanks to a late goal by Seyfettin Akdeniz on his home debut, and have been on a good run of results themselves.

They’ve won three and drawn one of their last five games, and even in the one defeat, by Greenwich, they played really well and could easily have forced a draw.

That run has taken Sittingbourne beyond the 50-point mark, with four games left this season after the Wednesday trip to Hythe.

Sittingbourne enjoyed one of their best wins of this season when the clubs last met, a Bola Dawodu goal giving them a 1-0 home victory back in September.

But Hythe hasn’t proved a happy one for them in the last few years, and they lost their twice last season, in the league and in an FA Cup replay.

Hythe include a couple of former Sittingbourne players in their side, Ryan Johnson and full-back Sal Kisitu, who was a regular in the red-and-black for 21 games in the middle of the season.
