Huska back with the Dynamos

The Invicta Dynamos have announced the signing of Slovakian born forward and alternate captain Juraj Huska who returns to Gillingham where he has already amassed 245 points in 107 games for the club between 2013 and 2015.

Veteran Juraj Huska brings a wealth of experience to the Dynamos line-up with a hockey CV that boasts stints in his home nation, America, Croatia, France and England. He first landed on UK soil in 2006 and he struck 55 points in 42 games for the Telford Tigers in the EPL.

He would not return to England until 2010 but the southeast has been the Slovak’s home ever since with the forward going on to spend time with the Romford Raiders (now London Raiders), Chelmsford Chieftains and our own Invicta Dynamos.

In his time on these shores, Juraj Huska has developed a fearsome reputation in front of goal with the Slovak sniper proving prolific in the colours of every club he has played for. In three consecutive seasons with the Romford Raiders between 2010 and 2013 he iced 141 times, scored 210 goals and claimed 168 assists for a remarkable points’ tally of 378.

The next two terms were spent with the Dynamos in Kent and he showed no signs of slowing down – here the import notched 245 points in 107 games which consisted of finding the target 127 times himself and setting up 118 more for his teammates.

Between 2015 and 2017 Juraj Huska returned to Essex but this time in the jersey of the Chelmsford Chieftains. Yet again the Slovak proved unstoppable – the forward icing on 85 occasions for the Chieftains during which he lit the lamp 106 times and played a role in 80 more for 186 points.

Huska returned to the Raiders – now the London Raiders – in 2017 where he continued to be a prominent figure in their frontline over the next two seasons despite the league being promoted to British Ice Hockey’s second tier. A further 82 appearances in the gold and blue saw him find twine 57 times, tee up a goal 60 times and so finish with 117 points.

Now, having won league, cup and playoff championships in addition to numerous personal accolades throughout his UK hockey journey, Huska returns to Kent looking to add yet more points and success to an already glittering career.

Having secured a return for a second stint in Gillingham, Juraj Huska said, “I thought about retiring from hockey at the end of last season but I slowly started training again and now I want to go for another year.”

“After the change in leagues I didn’t really want to travel as far in the new NIHL National whilst Anthony Leone was messaging me all the time convincing me to come back to the Mos.”

“I’m hoping to bring some skill and experience to the roster. If we take it step by step and have a good team spirit, I’m sure we can get the results the fans deserve.”

Speaking on the capture of Juraj Huska, Player-Coach Anthony Leone said, “I knew I needed not only a top import for next season but someone the younger players could learn from and Juraj ticks those boxes.”

“He loves the game and will teach anyone that wants to learn. Both on and off the ice he is one of the most professional imports I’ve played with. Whilst his ability to score goals speaks for itself, he’s also a true leader and for that reason he will be wearing an ‘A’ for us this year.”

“I’m really glad we have managed to get him on board and am looking forward to seeing him back in a Dynamos jersey where he belongs. This is an important signing for us.”
