Holmesdale v Welling Town preview

Holmesdale are back in SCEFL Premier Division action on Wednesday night when they take on Welling Town at Oakley Road.

Dale go into the game on the back of a 1-0 defeat at Sheppey United on Saturday, where they lost out to an eleventh minute goal in front of a big crowd on the Kent Coast.

The loss saw Lee Roots’ team drop to eighth in the table with 19 points from 13 league matches played, winning six, drawing one and losing six in the league so far.

In their first season back at this level following promotion Holmesdale have made a very decent start and have also made progress in the FA Vase.

Strikers Nathan Palmer and Owen Punselie have scored eleven league goals between them so far and Dale also have Andy Constable and recent signing Victor Aiyelabola as options up front.

Welling Town were also defeated on Saturday narrowly losing 3-2 away at Erith & Belvedere, having lead 2-1 in the first half with goals from Richard Jimoh and an own goal.

The Boots recently changed manager with Darren Manning taking over the reins, thus far in the league this season Town have won one, drawn two and lost six, which sees them sit in eighteenth place on 5 points, they also progressed through one round of the FA Vase before losing to Raynes Park Vale.

With both teams looking to get back to winning ways this looks set to be an entertaining encounter on the excellent Oakley Road pitch.

The game kicks off at 7.45pm and entrance is £8 for adults £5 for concessions.
