Holmesdale 3-4 Tunbridge Wells

There was a seven-goal thriller at Oakley Road when Holmesdale entertained Tunbridge Wells.

Both sides held the lead at times, but it was the visitors who claimed the points in an enthralling match that could have gone either way.

In just the second minute, Holmesdale went ahead. Owen Punselie clattered the bar with a pile-driver, and it flew out to James Shield who finished confidently. It might have been two soon afterwards when a free kick was knocked out as far as Rory Ward, but his crisp volley flew just over.

After twenty minutes, Tunbridge Wells levelled. Kyron Lightfoot was tumbled in the penalty area and Fjord Rogers followed up his hat-trick on Saturday by converting from the spot.

Jacob Skelly fired over for Holmesdale before they regained the lead when it bounced around in the area before falling into the path of Jamie Rawsthorne, and he finished superbly.

Rolex Bulti let fly for the hosts, with a shot that Aaron Lee-Wharton could only beat out before Punselie headed over in their next foray.

Parity was restored again when Lightfoot made space for himself with a clever change of direction before blasting home from over twenty-five yards out.

Lightfoot started the second half how he finished the first with a long range shot, but this time Nathan Edwards was equal to it, and he was able to push it over. Edwards was again required to save from Lightfoot before the busy Wells midfielder fired over after being set up by Frankie Griffin.

Just after the hour mark, the visitors went ahead through a spectacular volley by Robbie Bissett that flew in off the far post.

Edwards saved a Lightfoot free kick before Tunbridge Wells made it four. This time Fjord Rogers was the creator when setting up Matt Gething, and he had a simple finish.

If they thought they were in for a comfortable last fifteen minutes, that was proved to be ill-founded when Punselie’s determination allowed him to get to a through ball ahead of two defenders and poke it past Lee-Wharton.

Bailey Dell curled wide of the far post as the Dalers searched for an equaliser, then Lee-Wharton blocked a shot from Ward.

Revel Powell-Downey shot wide in injury time, however, the hosts had one last chance with the last kick of the game. A corner caused chaos and fell to Dell, but he blasted over from close range.
