Kent Cricket have announced the signing of 41 year old right-arm seam bowler Michael Hogan on a one-year contract to the end of the 2023 season.

Australian-born Hogan qualifies as a domestic cricketer due to his English passport and length of service in the county game, and has been a stand-out performer in English cricket since he joined Glamorgan in 2013.

He was nominated for the PCA’s Player of the Year award in his first season in Wales, and then helped them win the One-Day Cup in 2021. He also featured for the Southern Brave in the 2022 edition of The Hundred.

During his career Hogan has taken 681 first-class wickets at an average of 24.75. In the 2022 LV= Insurance County Championship, he played in all 14 matches, bowling 418 overs & took 45 wickets with an economy of 2.94.

As well as playing for Kent in 2023, Hogan will be a part of the Club’s coaching setup during its defence of the One-Day Cup.

On joining Kent for the 2023 season, Hogan said: “I’m really looking forward to a fresh challenge at this stage of my playing career.

“After 10 memorable seasons with Glamorgan the opportunity to play for Kent in Division One of the Championship, and to also cut my teeth mentoring in a new environment, is an exciting one.”

Kent’s Director of Cricket, Paul Downton, said: “Hoges has been an outstanding bowler for many years and will bring a vast amount of experience to our bowling unit. His numbers show he is an invaluable acquisition, and he continues to be a threat in both four-day and T20 cricket.

“I’m particularly excited about the knowledge he will bring with him, which will be invaluable to all our bowlers, particularly the young and upcoming talents at the Club.”
