Hill to tackle Goodwood Speedweek ‘Shootout’ in Calsonic Skyline

Fresh from the his most successful weekend in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship, where he took a double-podium at Croft last weekend, 26 year-old Jake Hill will fulfil a long-held ambition to compete at Goodwood, taking part in the inaugural ‘Speedweek’ in Ric Wood’s superb 1992 Calsonic R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R.

Combining the best of the three major motorsport events at Goodwood – the Masters meeting, the Festival of Speed and the Revival meeting – Speedweek takes place on the historic 2.36 circuit near Chichester in West Sussex, and will see BRDC ‘Superstar’ Hill competing in ‘The Shootout’

A one-lap ‘sprint’ will see an eclectic mix of Formula One, Sports Prototype, GT’s and Performance Road cars, plus of course the Racing Saloon class in which Hill will compete in Ric Wood’s 1992 Nissan R32 Skyline, racing in one of the most iconic liveries of its era – the vibrant blue of Japanese automotive component company Calsonic.

“I raced the car at the Oulton Park Gold Cup last year and it blew my mind! My pride and joy is my road-going R32 Skyline, so to be given the chance to compete in this car, on this circuit, in the illustrious company I’m in is a dream come true. Ric has built the car from scratch, including the engine, so it will be on point, and I absolutely love the challenge of Goodwood so I can’t wait.

“Some of my all-time favourite cars are competing in the shootout; Porsche 935, McLaren M23, Ford Sierra RS500, Jaguar XJR-9 amongst others, plus some amazing drivers like Le Mans winners Tom Kristensen, Marco Werner and Romain Dumas, so to be in their company is a real honour – but I’ll still be doing all I can to do as well as possible.

Goodwood have a wonderful variety of races across the three days – from Friday 16th to Sunday 18th October – and will live stream all the circuit action plus plenty of behind-the-scenes features via their website www.goodwood.com.

Hill’s first on-track action on Friday is the 1h 15 minute practice at 11.25am, with Qualifying at 14.10pm on Saturday, and then the Finale on Sunday afternoon at 3.05pm.

“I simply cannot thank Ric enough for this opportunity. This is one of my all-time favourite cars – Ric has whispered a few interesting facts about what he’s planning with the car – it should keep me very busy!
