The UK’s fastest circuit, Thruxton in Hampshire, sees the MB Motorsport squad return to action after a frantic opening four weekends in a five week period, with BRDC ‘Superstar’ Jake Hill aiming to build on his recent strong form.

Hill had a career-best weekend overall last time out at Knockhill, missing out on a first-ever Pole Position by 0.053 seconds and starting second, then taking a hard-fought Podium and a P8 and P5 to take a solid haul of points, leaving Scotland 9th overall in the points and 7th in the Independent Drivers category.

“Knockhill was great! P1 in practice and my best-ever qualifying, followed by three strong points finishes, backing up the results at the previous event at Oulton Park where I had another podium and more points scores. There’s still some niggles that we hope we’ve had time to resolve now, but I’m going to Thruxton full of confidence – the car was on Pole for both races here last year and Won one of them, so we should be very strong.

Hill is also pleased that MB Motorsport’s Sporting Director, Mark Blundell, will join the team for the first time this season at Thruxton, having an enforced absence due to Covid restrictions.

“Of course Mark and I became very close as team-mates last season, I still can’t believe a former F1 driver and Le Mans winner is my ‘boss’ but more importantly we are really good friends. He’s such a great guy to have around, and taught me so much last year, so it’s gonna be great to see him again – and very positive for the whole team.

“I raced at Thruxton earlier this year with one of my partners Racetruck, in a 1983 Golf GTi and also in Jamie Sturges’ TCR VW Golf, and have been coaching here last week, so I feel so ready to race here – I love the challenge – even if it is a bit lairy!
