Jake Hill was once again in good form at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, a venue he likes to head to and drive a number of different cars at the world famous venue.

“The best Garden Party on Wheels!” was how 2024 BTCC Champion Jake Hill enthusiastically described his weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where he again wowed the crowds in the spectacular 1970 Shadow Mk1 ‘Mosport’ Can Am car, and took on the challenge of the Shootout in the Touring Car Heroes class in a Holden Commodore V8 Supercar.

Hill rounded off what has been an incredibly busy first half of 2025 at Goodwood. The year started with him taking part in his first GT3 race, and first 24 Hour race in a Ferrari 296GT3 in Dubai in January, with a further four events with Era Motorsport in the UAE and Europe, as well as taking two Wins at the Goodwood Members Meeting in April, then his main focus being his BTCC title defence with Laser Tools Racing MB Motorsport at Donington Park.

“It’s been amazing but just non-stop! I have loved the experience in the Ferrari, and of course always enjoy the Goodwood events so much, plus BTCC has seen us take a Pole and a Win at Brands in May as well as some other really strong races, but it’s nice to be taking a little break now before an equally busy remainder of the year”

Hill once again drove the unique Shadow MK1 ‘Mosport’ Can Am Car in the demonstration runs, again stunning the huge crowds with it’s remarkable design and the marvellous sound of it’s 8 litre, 850bhp Chevrolet V8.

“Every time I drive this car I am smiling….and hanging on cos it’s SO quick. It only weights 800kgs and with its tiny wheels and pedals that are laid out at 45 degrees it’s like nothing else I have ever driven. Thanks again to the owner Jim Bartel for trusting me with the car, and to everyone at Era Motorsport for their hard work in preparing the car so beautifully”

Once again Kent-based Hill took part in the Touring Car Heroes class in the famous ‘Shootout’ against the clock, but for the first time was driving the 700bhp Holden Commodore V8 Australian Supercar, owned and prepared by Ric Wood Motorsport, and loved the experience.

“Me and my Dad used to watch the V8 Supercars on Motors TV when Garth Tander was racing this car in period, so to be trusted with this insanely cool car is very special – it is such a fantastic car to drive, loads of power, loads of grip and just a peach of a chassis. Thanks so much to Ric and the team for having me on board – I am loving driving this!”

Hill impressed with his total commitment in the Shootout, saving the best till last with a sensational run to end the day Winniing his class and setting a 48.33 second time, finishing 5th overall on Sunday’s run.

“So pleased to have Won my class for the fourth time with Ric here in the Shootout, especially in this amazing car. It was also great to have V8 Supercar legends Greg Murphy and Steven Richards in the same class as me – proper cool guys and made it all the more special having them here”

Hill now gets to regroup before resuming racing at Croft in the first weekend of August for the second half of BTCC, keen to build on a positive test session in his Laser Tools MB Motorsport BMW 330i M-Sport at Snetterton at the end of June.

“We had a lot of things to try, and all of them have given us some really good conclusions and gives me confidence going to Croft and Knockhill next, two of my favourite circuits. We will be fighting hard for sure”

Hill also has races at the Goodwood Revival in September and at the end of that month the 24 Hours of Barcelona in the Era Motorsport Ferrari 296GT3.

“We raced at Paul Ricard in the Ferrari a couple of weeks ago and had a really solid race, more miles in the book and lots learned, taking a P7 overall and P4 in Pro Am class was really pleasing. Really looking forward to racing at Barcelona for the first time too

“Now I have a couple of weeks to spend some time with my family and friends and refresh and get ready to go again…but I am already looking forward to getting back in my ‘Laser Beamer’ again!”
