Highs and lows of Motorsport for Rudd

Simon Rudd was back on the top step of the podium at the latest round of the Fun Cup Endurance Championship at Anglesey last weekend.

Although the race weekend didn’t go all the way of Rudd and his Team GRD teammates of Riley Phillips and Chris Dovell, finishing 11th in the opening race, before taking the victory in race two, to resume normal service.

It was the biggest ever grid at Anglesey with 31 cars taking at the weekend for what was two separate three hour endurance races, and as they head to Donington Park in July Rudd and his team are still top of the standings by two points.

He brings us up-to-date with his race weekend.

Race 1 – was always going to be a challenge starting last on a 31 car grid. Things didn’t get any easier after damage avoiding someone else’s incident, and a mistake from me led to a 10 second stop-go (and messed up another team’s race too). Ended up P11 – not what we wanted.

Race 2 – was all about putting it right. We started P22, but everything just clicked. Faultless stints, mega car, and top pit stops. Chris kept us in the lead fight, I managed to grab the lead in my stint, and handed it over to Riley who brought it home for the win.

Big thanks to all my sponsors, team, family and friends that enjoyed the weekend. Next stop, Donington Park in July.
