Heathcote set for Thruxton

Nathan Heathcote travels to the high-speed Thruxton circuit in Hampshire this weekend, ready for the fifth round of the 2019 Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup.

As the ‘Am’ series leader, the young driver is looking to increase his gap at the top of the standings.

Kent youngster Nathan Heathcote is looking to repeat his Oulton Park performance, where he extended his ‘Am’ series lead with a win and podium finish, when the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup series heads to Thruxton this weekend. Home to the British Automobile Racing Club, Thruxton holds the title of the UK’s fastest circuit and with its notoriously abrasive surface and unforgiving kerbs, always serves up great racing.

The long 7-week summer break between rounds has seen Nathan continue to work on his fitness, where he has had to adapt from the short explosive races in British Rallycross to an endurance style approach with longer circuit races in the Ginetta series.

The schedule for the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup includes qualifying on Saturday at 11.35 followed by a 12-lap race at 16.45, with another two 16-lap outings on Sunday at 11.20 and 16:30.

Speaking ahead of the Hampshire race weekend Nathan said, “Thruxton is another circuit I’ve not been to before, but I’m really excited about the challenge and have been watching a lot of videos as well as trying to get simulator time to make sure we’re all good to go.

“New circuits are always good fun, although it can be annoying to not be straight on the pace as you’ve got to build it up throughout the weekend. You can be at a disadvantage but normally I pick them up quite quickly and hopefully I’ll be straight out at the front.

“Being busy on the farm, it’s been hard to get out and train but I’ve been seeing James at the Body Clinic each week to work on a specific racing fitness regime and I also train a further 3 or 4 nights either on my own or with friends.

“It’ll be nice going to Thruxton with a bit of a points cushion, but I need to ensure I’m consistent throughout the rest of the season and get a few more wins under my belt and try and bring it home for the Century Motorsport team.”
