Hawkey ready for Assen

As the 2021 DTM championship enters its closing stages of the season, Esmee Hawkey heads to the TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands for the sixth round of the championship.

Demonstrating impressive race pace throughout the championship’s visit to Austria last time out, the 23-year-old climbed the order in both races to improve on her starting positions.

Arriving at Assen, Esmee looks forward to getting out on track and continuing that progress once again. Boasting the fastest corner on the DTM calendar, namely Ramshoek, the Assen circuit has been DTM’s Dutch home since 2019. At 4.555km in length, the track has also become a fan favourite – providing plenty of action and drama.

Speaking ahead of the Hawkey said: “I’m looking forward to getting out on track here at Assen,”

“I’m excited to experience it in a GT3 car. I always enjoy coming to the Netherlands, it will be like my home race this weekend as my mother is Dutch and I’ll have some of my Dutch family here supporting me too which will be fantastic.

“We held our own at the Red Bull Ring and fought through the field quite well. Assen is an equally fast track with some long straights and high-speed corners. I’m feeling motivated and ready for the weekend.”
