Halls AFC v Lordswood preview

Southern Counties East Football League Division One action takes place at Princes Park, Dartford on Wednesday evening when Halls AFC host Lordswood AFC.

Currently in eleventh place in the table, Halls have been draw specialists of late with four of their last five league and cup games ending all square after ninety minutes with a one-nil home defeat to FC Elmstead sandwiched in the middle.

On Saturday they visited Sheppey Sports in a match that finished two apiece. The hosts were two up after just nine minutes through a Jack Marsh penalty and a goal by David Latunde.

However, ten minutes after going two down, Ben Martin pulled one back and James Bayford levelled five minutes before half time. Neither side was able to find the winner in the second period.

Meanwhile, Lordswood were enjoying a convincing four-one victory at home to Lewisham Borough. They went one up in the sixth minute through Tommy Davey before Sam Grant saved a Borough penalty five minutes before half time.

Two goals in a minute, scored by Rameses Meseorisa and Timmy Babington early in the second period, put them well in control. Shaquon Williams added a fourth with eight minutes remaining before Andrea Carrera notched a consolation two minutes later.

That win moved them up to fourth in the table as they look to firm up a place in the play-offs with a view to bouncing back after relegation from the Premier Division last season.

Lordswood hosted Halls on the Saturday prior to their most recent matches in the Division One Cup. That was a real see-saw battle with a dramatic finale. Muraino Banjoko put Halls ahead four minutes before half time only for Davey to equalise one minute later. Bayford then put the visitors back ahead in first half stoppage time.

There was no further scoring until six minutes from time when Vinnie Medhurst levelled. When Artem Kuchkov put Lordswood ahead in the second minute of time added on, it appeared that they were going to claim victory, however, Martin had other ideas and restored parity five minutes later. The Lords were not to be denied though, and it was they who prevailed four-three on penalties.

This will be the first league meeting of the season between the two teams with the return fixture scheduled for Easter Monday.
