Grimsby Town vs Bromley – Preview

Following on from a hard-earned point at home to Oldham Athletic on Tuesday night, Bromley make the long journey up to The North Lincolnshire Coast to face Grimsby Town at Blundell Park in a League Two fixture on Saturday lunchtime.

The Ravens drew 0-0 at home to Oldham Athletic on Tuesday night, which moved them on to 69 points from 35 games at the top of the table, five clear of Cambridge United in second and seven from Swindon Town in fourth. Andy Woodman’s side are on a seventeen-game unbeaten run, although they have drawn four of their last five matches.

Andy Woodman bemoaned the denial of a late penalty appeal on Tuesday night and the quality of officiating in general this season. Saying he was expecting another apology e-mail about the decision. His main concern ahead of Saturday will be the fitness of Michael Cheek who had to go off injured late in the first half against Oldham.

The Mariners have only lost once in the League this year, their most recent game seeing a 3-1 win over Salford city on Tuesday night, thanks to first half goals from Kieran Green, Charles Vernam & Jude Sonsup-Bell for David Atrell’s side.

Grimsby are currently eighth in League Two with 55 points from 34 games, one point off the play off places with a game in hand and have hit form at just the right time to push for the post season.

When the sides met at Hayes Lane just before Christmas, Bromley won 2-0 with Will Hondermarck scoring both goals, but this game will be a tougher test for The Ravens with both teams looking to pick up vital points in the quest for League One football next season.

Kick-off is at 12:30pm, the game is also live on Sky Sports Plus.
