Gillingham will play Luton Town at MEMS Priestfield Stadium in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

The draw was made live on Sky Sports on Thursday afternoon and it will see Gareth Ainsworth’s men come up against the Hatters, currently in League 1 under the management of Jack Wilshere.
The fixture is set to be played on Saturday August 8, with kick-off at 3pm.

Cambridge United were promoted to League One last season, with Northampton Town coming the other way following relegation to League Two. We played Brighton’s U21 side in the same competition in 2022/23.
