Gillingham have added to their defensive options with the capture of Travis Akomeah from Watford on loan until January.

The 19-year-old centre-back, who rejoined the Hornets earlier this year following his departure from Chelsea, joins the Gills until the New Year and could make his league debut this weekend at Bromley.
Akomeah featured twice for Chelsea in last season’s Vertu Trophy, playing the full 90 minutes at Bromley before coming on as a second-half substitute against Charlton Athletic in October 2024.
On arriving at MEMS Priestfield Stadium, he said: “I am really excited to be here. It’s my first loan so I am looking to get men’s Football experience and help the team.”
“I would say I was versatile; I am calm and composed in possession. Everyone as a collective has been very welcoming.”
Travis has been allocated squad number 15.
Akemoah has been brought in by manager Gareth Ainsworth with injuries currently to both Conor Masterson and Shad Ogie.
Meanwhile, The Gills are expected to make at least one more signing before the transfer window closes at 7pm with both Joe Gbode and Jack Nolan tipped to be leaving the club.
