Gills Ladies are into the final of the Ryman League Cup after an emphatic win on a bitterly cold Tuesday evening.Gills Ladies v West Ham2

The Ladies had no less than seven different scorers, with six goals coming in a dominant second half performance.

Natalie Crinean scored a first half brace, before goals from Emma Tune, Lauren Williams, Emma Wood, Danni Farmer, Danielle Carlton and Vicky Ashton-Jones completed the rout.

It was the Gills who came out of the blokes the fastest and a great run from Tune saw the home side on the attack, her ball found captain Crinean who sent a ball across the box only for Carlton to fire over the crossbar.

Carlton went close again six minutes later when Tune again managed to get in behind the Enfield defence, this time she found Jade Keogh, her ball in turn found Carlton who this time fired wide of the far post.

The Gills were ahead in the 22nd minute when Crinean latched onto a through ball, slotting home under the keeper at the second attempt to make it 1-0.

She was doubling her tally just six minutes later when a slack clearance landed at her feet; she rounded a player before firing home into the bottom corner from an acute angle to make it 2-0.

On the half hour mark left back Emma Wood almost joined the goal scoring party when she tried her luck from distance after being set up by Kallie Balfour. However, Lauren Holman in the Enfield goal was equal to her effort.

The last chance of the half fell to Carlton from a Crinean through ball; her fine effort was tipped round the post by Holman for a corner.

Half Time 2-0

The second half saw the Gills on the attack just as they were in the first half, this time running in six unanswered goals.

Tune got the Gills dancing in the 49th minute when she tapped home the Ladies third goal from close range after Keogh had sent a teasing cross across the Enfield goalmouth.

In the 61st minute Enfield tested Charlotte Stephens in the Gills goal for the first time in the match, when Katie Wildins let fly from distance, but found the young custodian equal to her shot.

Right back Williams joined the party just a minute later as she tried her luck from distance with a speculative effort, which caught the keeper unawares as it nestled in the bottom corner to make it 4-0.

Less than two minutes later and Wood was adding her name to the list of scorers as she danced forward from left back. She played a one-two with Carlton before letting fly from 35 yards out, despite the best efforts of Holman she couldn’t prevent the ball going into the roof of the net.

In the 71st minute the Gills made it a round half dozen when Danni Farmer on as a second half substitute marked her return to the first team with a goal.

Ashton-Jones found Williams who crossed the ball into the area, her cross was met by Carlton whose shot was parried into the path of Farmer, who poked the rebound home under the challenge of an Enfield defender.

With ten minutes left how neither Crinean nor Carlton managed to make it seventh heaven for the Gills is still up for debate. First Crinean saw her shot saved by the keeper, the ball fell to the feet of Carlton who saw her rebound blocked on the line by an Enfield defender, just a foot either side and it was a certain goal.

That didn’t matter just two minutes later when the Gills did score their seventh, Tune was upended in the penalty area and referee Tony Sanders had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Carlton stepped up and smashed the penalty high into the top corner, to get the goal she both craved and deserved.

There was still time for an eight goal for the Gills. Ashton-Jones picked the ball up on the half way line, and showed a great turn of pace leaving the Enfield defence for dead, before firing a shot across goal and into the bottom corner.

The Ladies now move onto the final after a fantastic attacking performance, which will take place in mid April.
