Gillingham vs Cheltenham Town – Preview

Gillingham will look to move into the third round of the Carabao Cup tonight when they host Cheltenham Town.

The Gills are aiming to make the third round of the competition for the second successive season.

Steve Evans will no doubt be hoping that they can make it through without the need for penalties. Having come through their first round tie 10-9 with youngster Harvey Lintott scoring the winning spot kick against Crawley Town.

Evans is sure to make a number of changes as he looks to rest some players who have not really had a pre-season for the up coming league fixtures. He is likely to give some of his promising youngsters another go with Lintott and Bailey Akehurst among those who could start.

Michael Duff brings his Cheltenham side to the Priestfield Stadium still full of confidence after promotion in the summer. They knocked out Bristol Rovers in the first round and are just a point below the Gills in the league.

Kick-off is at 7:45pm
