Gillingham pair Scott Wagstaff and Lee Martin could be in line for starts in the League One clash with Walsall at Priestfield.

Wagstaff (hamstring) and Martin (calf) have made substitute appearances following their recovery from injury but could be deemed ready for inclusion in the starting XI.

Alex Lacey is set to miss out once more as he continues his rehabilitation from an ankle injury, although he may return next week.

Boss Steve Lovell made two changes for the 2-1 victory over Northampton Town on Tuesday night and could decide to stick with that winning formula.

Having salvaged a point against Peterborough United at Priestfield last weekend, Lovell’s side have now started dreaming of securing a play-off spot and three points against Walsall would go a long way towards realising that dream.

Walsall manager Jon Whitney will also consider his options carefully after stitching together a run of two wins and a draw from the last three games.

The Saddlers eased past Doncaster 4-2 in midweek and Whitney has a fully-fit squad to select from once more.

However, the schedule of three games in eight days could result in some changes being made.

“It’s nice to go into Gillingham, who are in good form themselves, on the back of seven points. Confidence is high and both teams are playing well,” Whitney said.
