Gillingham will be going all out to secure three points against Shrewsbury Town at Priestfield on Saturday.

Gills v Chesterfield2

With just three games of their League One campaign to play, The Gills find themselves clinging onto their play-off spot by their fingernails.

The 1-1 draw at Rochdale on Tuesday night sees Gillingham stay sixth in League One, but with Barnsley having beaten Peterborough United late on, it’s only goal difference that separates the two sides.

Their fate rests in their own hands, so Gillingham know a win against Shrewsbury will go a long way to taking some pressure off.

These past few months have been difficult ones for Gillingham fans as they’ve seen their side slip out of the automatic promotion places and slip down the League One table.

One positive note going into the game is the availability of most of the squad with Adedeji Oshilaja and Adam El-Abd both part of the squad for the game against Rochdale and are expected to be available for the Shrewsbury game.

Manager Justin Edinburgh will be tempted to recall El-Abd to the starting line up with the club’s defensive record looking solid with the on loan Bristol City man in the side.

At the other end of the pitch, Gillingham’s goals have dried up in recent weeks and Edinburgh will have to think long and hard as to which personnel and shape he employs.

Cody McDonald, Rory Donnelly and Luke Norris will all be hoping for a place in the eleven with Bradley Dack guaranteed a spot in the side.

Striker Dominic Samuel will be missing once again, whilst on loan Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Andrew Crofts missed Tuesday night’s game with a hamstring problem and once again will sit out.

George Williams has passed a fitness test and will be in the squad, whilst Jake Hessenthaler came off with cramp against Rochdale, but will be fit to be selected.

Jermaine Grandison could be fit for Shrewsbury after missing their last three games.

The defender has been troubled by a hip injury but has returned to training this week ahead of the trip to Kent.

Fellow defender Mickey Demetriou is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury having played just once for the club this season.

Shrewsbury are two points above the League One relegation zone with a game in hand.
