Gillingham v Rochdale preview

Gillingham host Rochdale on the back of a brilliant display at the Wham Stadium on Saturday.

New signing, Olly Lee, and captain, Kyle Dempsey, are both doubts for the weekend after picking up knocks at Accrington. Callum Slattery is poised to make his home debut after joining on-loan from Southampton last week.

Stuart O’Keefe could be back in the team, recovering from a broken leg much quicker than expected.

The visitors come to Priestfield on the back of 3 draws and a defeat including a 4-4 draw against Charlton last weekend.

Rochdale are also buoyed by the return of 5 players, including top scorer Matty Lund. New Signing, Gabriel Osho, could also feature after joining from Luton, yesterday.

For manager Steve Evans, it’s a game his side could well win, but knows what threat Rochdale will pose:

“We know how tough it’s going to be on Saturday.

“I went to The Valley recently and watched them draw 4-4 and it was very exciting to watch. Rochdale are a good side; they are a difficult team to play against.

“I travelled up to Doncaster on Tuesday evening to watch them lose by the odd goal. Supporters can do their own research and go on to YouTube and watch the clips, Rochdale should have left with all three points, never mind nothing.”
