Gillingham v Peterborough United preview

Gillingham should have midfielder Lee Martin fit from a calf problem for the Sky Bet League One match against Peterborough United, but defender Alex Lacey will again miss out with an ankle injury.

Midfielder Lee Martin came off during the second half of the defeat at Wigan with a calf strain, but is expected to be available.

Scott Wagstaff is closing in on a return from a troublesome hamstring problem, while new signings Navid Nasseri and Rhys Murphy could also come into contention. Midfielder Billy Bingham (broken ankle) continues his rehabilitation, along with long-term absentee Aaron Morris (knee).

Peterborough will be without defender Alex Penny, who is set for a spell out with a dislocated shoulder. Midfielder Michael Doughty is available again following illness.

Striker Omar Bogle has enjoyed a full week of training having made his debut following a deadline-day loan move from Cardiff, so should lead the attack. Gwion Edwards is recovering from an ankle injury, while forward Ricky Miller has moved on loan to Mansfield.

Gillingham’s 1-0 loss in their home league meeting with Peterborough in League One last season was just their second defeat to them in 20 Football League encounters on home soil (W8 D10).

The Posh have managed just one win in their last seven league games against Gillingham (D2 L4), never scoring more than once any of those seven matches.

Gillingham’s eight game unbeaten run came to an end last time out as the Gills suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of league leaders Wigan.

Peterborough have lost just one of their last five league matches on the road (W2 D2), whilst keeping their first clean sheet away from home in 11 games in their last outing (0-0 against Wigan).

Jack Marriot has scored 10 away goals for Peterborough this season, the most in the division.

Gillingham goal keeper Tomas Holy has made 156 saves so far this season, the most of any League One goalkeeper.
