Gillingham v Burton Albion – Preview

Gillingham get their home Sky Bet League One campaign underway tomorrow afternoon as they host Burton Albion, as they go in search of back to back wins to kick-off the season.

Having got the season underway with an excellent two-nil win at Accrington Stanley on the opening day of the season, thanks to goals from Josh Parker and Brandon Hanlan, they will be looking for the first three home points of the season against a side that were relegated from the Championship last season.

The Gills reserves played against Oxford United in midweek and a number of Steve Lovell’s first team squad got a run out and some valuable minutes under their belt. Tom Eaves started and scored in that match and will be pushing for a return to the starting line-up tomorrow afternoon but may have to settle for a place on the bench.

Alex Lacey, Connor Wilkinson and Elliot List all missed last weekends opening day victory but are back in training this week and will be looking for places in the team or on the bench. Unfortunately Callum Reilly is a week away from full fitness and Josh Rees is a week further behind Reilly.

The visitors managed by Nigel Clough he has no fresh injury worries ahead of the weekend after their defeat to Rochdale last weekend.
