Frampton backs Gills in play-off hunt

Gillingham captain Andy Frampton still believes his side can make the play-offs despite being four points adrift of seventh placed Crewe.

Frampton skippered The Gills to a memorable 3-1 win over rivals Swindon Town at Priestfield on Saturday and believes after that victory, his side have a realistic chance of finishing in the top seven:

“I do believe we can make the play-offs.

“It will be tough – and we’re waiting on other teams to maybe slip up again – but we are very positive and believe we can achieve our side of the job in hand.” he told The Sun.

“The result was more important for us, to keep the pressure on those teams above us, and we’ll just see what pans out over the next two games.”

The 32 year old former Brentford and Millwall defender has been limited to just 26 appearances in the league this season, but seems set to keep his place in the side for the remaining two games against Northampton Town and Morecambe.
