Folkestone Invicta 2-0 Hayes and Yeading United

Second half goals from Ade Yusuff and Finn O’Mara made it five wins from the last six games – but only one of those in the league – as they overcame high-flying Bostik South Central Hayes and Yeading to reach the fourth round of the Velocity Trophy on a damp and chilly night at the Fullicks Stadium.

Yusuff powerfully headed home a pinpoint cross from Kieron McCann just seconds after half-time and good work from the exciting Alfie Paxman set up midfielder O’Mara for Folkestone’s second goal just before the hour.

Only keeper Luke Daley had stood between the tireless Yusuff and McCann and a comfortable lead for the home side in the first period but once the breakthrough came there was never really any doubt about the outcome of the tie.

Folkestone make take their time, but they are getting better at showing their opponents who is the Premier Division side and they were well worth this win.

Once again, as in the previous rounds of this league cup competition manager Neil Cugley left assistant boss Roland Edge and coach Micheal Everitt in charge of the side as Invicta carried on where they’d left off at the weekend.

As the manager says, they have earned the chance to go out and enjoy themselves with everything to win and little to lose when they visit National League South leaders Woking in the Buildbase FA Trophy this weekend.
