First victory for Will Ovenden
First victory for Will Ovenden

Will Ovenden took his first victory in the MSUK Cross Car category at the latest round of the 5 Nations British Rallycross Championship.

Driving the #5 Mygale XC04 at Mondello Park, Ovenden was immediately on the pace during Saturday’s Round 3. He finished second in Q1, second again in Q2, and fifth in Q3, giving him a strong qualifying total and placing him second in the intermediate classification behind Bradley Turner.

In the final, Will pushed hard across the six-lap race and finished second, just 0.549 seconds behind the winner. It was a strong podium result and a clear sign of the pace he had carried throughout the day.

Sunday’s Round 4 then delivered the big result. Ovenden again started well, finishing second in Q1, before going one better in Q2 with a superb heat win. He followed that with second in Q3, ending qualifying second overall once again.

This time, however, the final belonged to Will. Over five laps, Ovenden put everything together when it mattered most, taking the MSUK Cross Car His winning time of 4:25.279 capped off an excellent weekend and gave him a deserved Round 4 win.

Across the two days, Will showed consistency, speed and race-winning quality — leaving Mondello Park with a second place and a victory!
