There is a mouth watering FA Cup First Qualifying Round match on Saturday when Faversham Town host Welling United at the Aquatherm Stadium.

Although playing in a division below their visitors, Faversham are unbeaten in all competitions and have a one hundred percent home record. They have already had to negotiate two rounds of the world’s most famous domestic club knock out competition. They started with a four-two victory against Corinthian Casuals before they visited Bedfont, drew nil-nil, then won the replay four-nil.

Last Saturday, they started their FA Trophy campaign with a three-nil win at Flackwell Town before their Isthmian League South East home match against Sheppey United on Monday ended in a three-two win. Kane Haysman put the hosts ahead midway through the first half, however, Michael Salako levelled five minutes later. Josh Strouts put Faversham back ahead then, early in the second period, Ibrahim Olutade increased their lead. Josh Chambers pulled one back with quarter of an hour remaining but Faversham held on for the three points.

Meanwhile, Welling are yet to start any of their cup campaigns and their season so far has consisted of six Isthmian League Premier Division matches. At home they have a one hundred percent record, however, on the road they have won one and lost two.

On August Bank Holiday Monday, they suffered one of those defeats at Cray Wanderers. Two days earlier, they defeated Ramsgate in a tough hard fought battle in hard weather conditions, while Cray had a day off as their match at Maldon and Tiptree was postponed by the Isthmian League. Ryan Maxwell made six changes and when Ade Azeez put his Wings ahead, all appeared to be going well for them.

That changed when Rob Strachan levelled on the stroke of half time. Both teams had a player sent off before the Wands finished strongly with three goals in the last twelve minutes. Ade Yusuff converted a penalty, Ola Ogunwamide added a third, and Alex Hernandez rounded off the scoring.

A big crowd is anticipated and it could be a cracker.
